Double fatality on Dukes Highway

The Dukes Highway has been re-opened to all traffic following a double fatality at Cooke Plains south of Tailem Bend yesterday afternoon.

Just after 2pm, a Daihatsu sedan travelling north on the Dukes Highway collided head-on with a B-Double travelling south, near the intersection Gypsum Road.

The driver of the Daihatsu a 53-year-old woman and her passenger, a 67-year-old man both from Glen Osmond, died at the scene.

The truck driver a 48-year-old man from Victoria was not injured in the crash.

The Dukes Highway was closed for several hours while Major Crash Investigators examined the scene, but reopened just after 11pm last night.

The two deaths take the State’s road toll to 56 as compared to 54 for the same time last year.
