Police appeal after child approached and photographed – Newtown

Police are appealing for public assistance after a child approach incident in Sydney’s inner-west yesterday.

About 3.05pm (Friday 4 September 2015), an eight year old boy who had just finished school was playing on a wall near the school on Campbell Street, Newtown, when he was approached by an unknown man.

The man took his phone out and took a picture of the boy and said some comments to him before walking away. Whilst doing so he appeared to take another picture of the boy.

The incident was reported to police from Newtown Local Area Command who are investigating the incident.

The man is described as Caucasian, aged in his 50s, with a medium build, short grey hair, and at the time he was wearing a white shirt with a black motif on it and reflective sunglasses.
