Police investigate after car crashes into water – Drummoyne

Police are investigating after a car crashed down an embankment and into water at Drummoyne last night.

About 11.15pm (Sunday 9 August 2015), emergency services were called to The Esplanade, near Hendricks Avenue, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a Volkswagen Beetle left the roadway, before crashing down an embankment and into water.

The driver, a 30-year-old Drummoyne woman, was breath tested at the scene and allegedly returned a positive reading.

She was treated at the scene for minor injuries before being taken by Ambulance Paramedics to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where she will undertake blood tests.

The passenger, a 33-year-old Drummoyne man, was not injured.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
