Teen charged after police vehicle damaged – Wollongong

Police have charged a 15-year-old girl after a police vehicle was allegedly damaged in Wollongong.

Shortly before 9am (Saturday 18 February 2017) police were called to Wollongong Railway Station following reports of two teenagers arguing.

Police attended and spoke to a 15-year-old girl and a teenage boy who were unco-operative towards police. Both teenagers left the scene separately.

Whilst police were leaving the scene and were stationary along Auburn Street, Wollongong, the 15-year-old girl picked up a brick and allegedly threw it at the rear window of the fully marked police van.

No one was injured during the incident; however, the rear windows were smashed.

The girl was arrested at the scene, before being taken to Wollongong Police Station where she was charged with destroy or damage property, and shoplifting (unrelated matter).

The teen was refused bail and appeared at a Children’s court on Sunday 19 February. 2017.

The teen was granted conditional bail to reappear at a Children’s court on Thursday 9 March 2017.
