Police search for missing bushwalkers – Central Coast
A missing group of bushwalkers were located safe and well in the Dhurang National Park Mangrove Mountain on the Central Coast.
Just before 9am yesterday (Thursday 27 April 2017), a 72-year-old female, 69-year-old male and 65-year-old female set out on a walk through the Dhurang National Park Mangrove Mountain.
They informed family members of their expected return time. When they did not return by the allocated time, family members contacted police.
A search and rescue operation commenced. Shortly after 9pm the police rescue helicopter crew sighted a fire in bushland in the search area.
The search team located the missing walkers at 11.37pm sitting around the fire.
The walkers were checked by NSW Ambulance personnel and did not require medical assistance. They were later re-united with their families.
When going on walks through bushland be sure to be prepared. This includes
-Wearing appropriate clothing.
-Taking adequate food and water.
-Taking appropriate supplies to be able to attract attention of rescuers.
-Taking appropriate safety equipment such as torches and tape to guide your way.
