The Greeks of Burwood together with the former Mayor of Burwood Mr Chris Christogeorge celebrated with a unique way the Greek Independence Day of 25th March 1821.
Greeks of the area around went to the Hall of the Library of Burwood and attended a celebration that had nothing to envy from similar celebrations that took place in Greece.
Many young Greeks were in this celebration. They recited poems, sang and danced many Greek dances.
Very good also was the choir which was organised by the former Mayor Mr Christogeorge and was the surprise of the evening.
We must mention that Mrs Sophie Cotsis was there too and of course the Greek Consul of Sydney Mr Stavros Kyrimis who referred to the Greek parade that is going to happen outside Opera House in Sydney.
We must give congratulations to the former Mayor of Burwood Mr Chris Christogeorge who organised this celebration. He tried to keep the Greek culture alive by talking to the young Greeks and we hope that there will be more people like him in the future.
