5 YEAR OLD CHILD HIT BY CAR IN BANKSTOWN

Police are investigating after a child was struck by a car in Sydney’s south west today.

About 2.50pm (Friday 16 September 2016), emergency services were called to Marion Street, Bankstown, after reports a child had been hit by a car.

Initial inquiries suggest the boy, aged 5, was crossing the road when he was struck.

The driver, who did stop after the crash, has spoken to police.

The boy was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Bankstown Local Area Command attended and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Inquiries are continuing.
