A report will be prepared for the Coroner after a child was killed in a motor vehicle crash at Portland yesterday evening.
About 5.45pm (Thursday 13 August 2015), a Toyota Camry collided with a pantech truck at the intersection of Irondale Road and Pipers Flat Road in Portland, near Lithgow.
As a result of the crash a seven-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Toyota Camry, was critically injured. She was taken to Lithgow Hospital by Ambulance Paramedics where she was unable to be revived.
A four-year-old boy who was also a passenger in the Camry was treated at the scene for minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.
The 30-year-old male driver of the Camry was uninjured. He was taken to Lithgow Hospital for a mandatory blood and urine test.
The 49-year-old male truck driver was also uninjured. He was taken to Lithgow Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Police from Chifley Local Area Command and the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit attended the scene and conducted inquiries.
Pipers Flat Road was closed whilst the investigation took place but has since reopened.
Police are urging anyone who might have witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police to come forward.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner outlining the full circumstance surrounding the incident.
