Man charged over alleged possession of replica firearm – Parramatta

A man has been charged with the alleged possession of a replica firearm and other offences after being searched by police in Parramatta yesterday.
About 12.20pm (Thursday 3 December 2015), officers from Police Transport Command North West Transport Action Group were patrolling Parramatta Railway Station when they noticed a man walking towards a ticket barrier.
Police will allege the man saw the officers and at the station causing him to quickly turn and walk away.
Officers caught up with the man and after a brief conversation the officer’s conducted a search of the 37-year-old, and his bag.
Police will allege they located a replica pistol, a pair of gloves, and a black balaclava, along with a small bag of a substance believed to be meth amphetamine.
As he was placed under arrest police will allege he became aggressive and resisted.
Officers managed to restrain the man before taking him to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with possess unauthorised firearm, possession of prohibited drug, goods suspected of being stolen or unlawfully obtained, and resist arrest.
He was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Friday 4 December 2015).
