Inquiries continue following fatal crash – Heathcote

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal crash in Sydney’s south yesterday afternoon.

About 4pm (Tuesday 11 August 2015), police and emergency services were called after a truck and two cars collided on a bridge on Heathcote Road, Heathcote.

The driver of one of the vehicles – a 39-year-old Engadine man – died at the scene.

The truck driver – a 42-year-old Yagoona man – was taken to St George Hospital for treatment to a broken leg. His passenger – a 38-year-old Sefton man – was uninjured.

The driver of the third vehicle – a 28-year-old Cordeaux Heights woman – was taken to Bankstown Hospital as a precaution.

Police from Sutherland Local Area Command attended the location and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit.

Heathcote Road was closed for more than ten hours, but has since reopened.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have information that will assist with their inquiries to come forward.
