Inquiries continue into illegally-downloaded movie– Busby

Inquiries are continuing after a number of illegally-downloaded movies were seized during a search warrant in south western Sydney.

Police from Green Valley Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a house in Busby about 10am yesterday (Thursday 29 October 2015).

The search was conducted with the assistance of Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT).

A computer and storage devices were seized and these will be forensically examined. The ranges of titles involved is still being determined.

Cash was also located and seized.

It will be alleged the films and television programs were advertised for sale online and purchasers would attend the address to obtain a copy of the movie or program.

The illegal sale of copyrighted matter is an offence and serious penalties applied to those who were found guilty.
