Man charged with third murder over deaths at Hermidale – Strike Force Anjudy

A man has been charged with a third count of murder over the deaths of three people in Hermidale (near Nygan) in June this year.

About 8am on Friday (26 June 2015), emergency services were called to a property on Laroo Road, Hermidale (near Nyngan), after a member of the public found a man deceased in the driveway.

The 28-year-old man, who lived on the property, had sustained a gunshot wound.

Police from Darling River Local Area Command attended and discovered the body of another man and a woman on the property.

The 36-year-old local woman had also suffered a gunshot wound. A 59-year-old man’s body was found in a burnt caravan.

Strike Force Anjudy was launched by local detectives, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad, to investigate the deaths.

On Sunday 28 June 2015, a 61-year-old man was arrested by detectives at Nyngan Police Station, and charged with two counts of murder. He was refused bail.

This morning (Tuesday 11 August 2015), the 61-year-old man was charged with a third count of murder, not store firearm safely, and acquisition of prohibited firearm part.

He remains bail refused, and is due to appear at Bourke Local Court on Thursday 20 August 2015.
