A man has been charged following an assault at East Lismore that has left another man critically injured.
About 1am, Sunday 25 October 2015, a 37-year-old man was at home in Bright Street when he was awoken by the sound of voices and smashing bottles. The man also noticed a number of eggs had been thrown at this house.
The man went outside and confronted a group of four men. It is alleged one of the men in the group punched the 37-year-old knocking backwards, hitting his head on the cement driveway.
The group left the scene and police attended and secured a crime scene. Police Dog Squad officers arrived and the dog tracked a scent to a house in Clarice Street. Police arrested a 38-year-old man and he was taken to Lismore Police Station.
He was charged with cause grievous bodily harm with intent and was refused bail to appear at Lismore Bail Court. He is due to re-appear in Lismore Local Court today, (Monday 26 October 2015).
The injured man was treated by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital and remains in a critical condition.
