Teen seriously injured in crash – Springfield

A teenage boy is in hospital after a car crashed into a parked boat trailer and boat at Springfield yesterday.

About 1.30pm (Saturday 22 August 2015), a 51-year-old man was driving a blue Mitsubishi Mirage north on Robinia Parade when it left the road and struck the trailer.

A 16-year-old boy, a passenger in the car, suffered severe facial injuries.

A second passenger, a 14-year-old boy, suffered minor injuries.

The driver left the scene of the crash prior to police arrival.

Emergency services were called and the teens were treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance Paramedics.

The 16-year-old was taken to Gosford Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Following inquiries, police attended a home on Meadow Street and arrested a 51-year-old man. He was taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.

Police from Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the crash.
