Two people have been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly robbed in Sydney’s south yesterday.
About 4.15pm (Thursday 9 February 2017), police were called to Rocky Point Road, Sans Souci, after a taxi driver was reportedly robbed.
Witnesses have told police that during the incident the taxi driver was chased by the man, who was allegedly armed with a small axe.
Police from St George Local Area Command attended the scene and arrested a man and a woman at the scene.
They were taken to St George Police Station. The taxi driver was uninjured.
The man, 23, was charged with two counts of armed with intent to commit indictable offence, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, larceny, goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen, and resist officer in execution of duty.
He was refused bail and will appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Friday 10 February 2017).
The woman, 33, was charged with carried in conveyance without consent of owner, goods in custody and malicious damage of police property. Her court date is yet to be determined.
