A former senior member of the Rebels outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) has been charged with allegedly stabbing a former Nomads OMCG member inside a Sydney remand centre.
On Friday 24 April 2015, officers from Corrective Services NSW responded to an altercation between two men at the Silverwater Remand and Reception Centre.
One of the men, a 33-year-old former Nomads member, suffered a small stab wound to his upper shoulder. A ‘shiv’ (makeshift weapon) was seized and the matter was reported to police.
Officers from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor have been investigating the incident, and yesterday (Tuesday 25 August 2015) arrested a 28-year-old man at the Silverwater remand centre.
The former senior member of the Rebels was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, and possess offensive weapon/instrument in a place of detention.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 26 August 2015).
Strike Force Raptor was established by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad in 2009. It is a proactive and high-impact operation targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and any associated criminal enterprises.
