House fire – Roselands

Police are investigating following a house fire in Sydney’s south-west today.

About 10.35am (Friday 1 July 2016), officers from Campsie Local Area Command came across a house well alight on Hilton Avenue, Roselands. A person was trapped inside a front room.

A number of hoses were used by officers and neighbours in an attempt to extinguish the fire.

NSW Fire & Rescue attended and rescued an unconscious woman, believed to be aged in her 90s, from the house.

NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the woman for smoke inhalation before she was taken to St George hospital in a serious condition.

The fire has been extinguished; however, a number of traffic diversions remain in place.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
