Hydroponic cannabis set-up found after neighbour dispute – Bexley

Police have charged a man and woman following the discovery an alleged hydroponic cannabis set-up at Bexley yesterday.

About 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 25 November 2015), officers from St George Local Area Command were called to a neighbour dispute on St Georges Road which allegedly involved threats made with a knife.

Following inquiries, a search warrant was applied for and executed at a house at the location.

On commencing the search for the knife, officers allegedly located an alleged hydroponic cannabis set-up at the rear of the property.

A crime scene was declared and 95 cannabis plants and approximately 3 kilograms of dried buds were seized by police. The buds and plants have an estimated potential street value of $295,000.

As a result of the search, a 36-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman were arrested and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

The man was charged with intimidation, common assault, possess prohibited drug, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, take part enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis and supply cannabis (greater than indictable quantity & less than commercial quantity).

He was refused bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court today (Thursday 26 November 2015).

The woman was charged with take part enhanced indoor cultivate cannabis and supply cannabis (greater than indictable quantity & less than commercial quantity).

She was granted conditional bail to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 17 December 2015.
