Two men have been arrested after a taxi was stolen at Oatlands, and involved in a pursuit in Sydney’s north west, this morning.

About 5am (Monday 10 August 2015) a taxi was carrying two passengers on Beddington Road, when it stopped to pick up a third person.

The driver got out of the vehicle momentarily as the third person got in.

It’s alleged one of the original passengers then got behind the wheel and drove off without the taxi driver.

The taxi was involved in a minor collision at Toongabbie, where the passengers exited the vehicle and were apprehended by police.

The driver continued but was not pursued by police. The taxi was found abandoned in Carrington Street, Seven Hills a short time later.

Two males, aged 17 and 18 were arrested, while the third male ran off. Despite an extensive search, he was not located.

The two arrested people were taken to Parramatta Police Station where they are assisting police with their inquiries.
